アーホム文字英 Ahom alphabet

アッサム地方で用いられていたタイ族の一派，アーホム族の文字は，13 世紀の初頭から 18 世紀の末にかけて使用されていた。アーホム文字は南インド系の文字であり，シャン文字やカムティー文字と同様に，古モン文字から派生したものと考えられている。 ^[1]

文字構成

表単音文字で，子音字と母音記号を組み合わせる。子音字は１字形が１単音を表示し，単独に読むときには， aa 母音をつける。母音記号は，それぞれその種類によって，子音字の上下左右に置かれる。また，元来もっていたと考えられる声調の表記はない。

アーホム文字表

文字配列には二通りあり，一番目は G. Barua による「アーホム‐アッサム‐英語辞典」（1920 年）に基づくもので，次はアーホム文字フォントを作成した Stephen Morey の分析に基づくものである。

母音記号表

表の作成には，フリーフォント Ahom Font を使用。（morey-fonts.zipに同梱）
